Another Affiliate Summit in the books for this girl. I have lost count of how many I have attended and or organized. This #ASE19 however was extra special for so many reasons.
My niece Julia who so many attendees met in the VIP Lounge joined us onsite to work the event for her internship as she is in her senior year majoring in Marketing at Western New England College. It was so much fun introducing her to the team I work with, my clients, vendors and industry friends. Julia learned so much in her 6 days especially how to effectively network. She even collected some of her own business cards. I would say attending her first Affiliate Ball was a highlight for sure. I really can't think of a better Marketing internship than attending an Affiliate Summit conference. She certainly worked her ass off and I imagine will be needing extra sleep these next few days!
Added to the agenda this conference was the first Affiliate Summit networking running club with yours truly. While being out late for dinners and drinks is part of client success it was equally as fun getting up bright and early for networking runs into Central Park. We had speakers, new attendees, exhibitors and sponsors from the event join me. It was a great and healthy way to kick off our conference days and I enjoyed the groups I had each morning. I had a really great email in my inbox from one of the running club members. Helping businesses make the connections is exactly what we are here to do!
"Hi Sara,
Just wanted to say thank you for putting on such a great event. This was my first affiliate summit so I wasn't sure what to expect but I made a bunch of great connections and am looking forward to following up with them this week.
Thanks for sponsoring the morning runs as well, it was definitely a highlight and resulted in some of my best strongest connections from the summit.
I hope you can catch up on some sleep for at least a day before you jump back into it.
Best regards,

The tribute to James Martell an industry legend at our Pinnacle awards Tuesday was very touching and well deserved. Even if you did not know him well there was not a dry eye in the audience. It shows how compassionate everyone in this industry really is.
An industry person Steve Brown from MatchStickIgnite.com posted on Facebook today "Each Affiliate Summit I am inspired by the Industry. We are a unique breed of people. What other industry can spend 18-20 hour days working their craft, building relationships for 4 days and not end up in a hospital?" And for those of us putting on the event it's 6-7 days and the month crunch time beforehand.
We work long hard hours but when you get home and see all the social media posts and positive feedback emails how the Summit helped their business you can't help but smile and feel proud. Already missing the UK team especially our Commercial Director Robert.
Who's joining me for #ASW20 Running Club? Don't forget your sneakers!
