October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month💜

How many times have you heard it will never happen to me? Or...I am too smart to put myself into a situation like that? Unfortunately domestic abuse can happen to anyone, anywhere. No matter what the situation may be nobody ever deserves to be in a domestic abusive relationship. If this is you and your trying to figure out what to do, the best advice is to get out as fast as physically possible.

On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. That is a crazy and scary statistic and it's so important to raise awareness. We need to teach our children about this and talk about what an unhealthy relationship can do to someone. Be a voice that this is never ok.

There is so much support out there and nobody is ever alone. There are support groups in person and on social media that you can join. Consider helping raise awareness by finding local charities such as the 5K that I plan to run in again for safe passage in December. The Hot Chocolate Run is an amazing charity through the Hampshire County organization addressing domestic violence. So many survivors and supporters come out to help make a difference.

The more people that take a stand with my hope this will all come to an end. Wear purple to show your support and remember Domestic Violence is NEVER ok.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
