I guess I wouldn't be much of a Blogger if I didn't jump on board to throw out my thoughts on the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak that is taking over the world. Clearly I don't live under a rock so I have been following this whole nightmare closely. I am the type of Parent that when I need to bring my kids to their routine Doctor visits I do not allow them to touch anything. When they were toddlers I did not allow them to play with the toys in the Doctor's office, so gross. So needless to say washing hands, using hand sanitizer and not picking your nose has always been a common practice in my house.
First and foremost, I honestly feel sad for Corona the beer. How in the world do you market a product that has the same name as a disease that is spreading all over the world? I would give anything to be sitting in on their board meetings trying to figure out a solution for riding this out. I can't imagine revenue for them is good but I could be wrong.
My position at my company is global so I am getting different perspectives all over the world which has been very interesting. Working in the event industry where we are gathering thousands of people inside a venue all over the world clearly has been a struggle. I have sat in on several meetings the past two weeks listening to all the safety precautions we as a company are making. I am proud to work for a company that cares as much about their employees health as the actual issue with revenue and the bottom line. So far our events are moving forward so it's great to be making educated decisions verse going into panic as I have seen other companies doing.
The past few years I live in the moment and go with the flow on the good in life and the bad. Living my life with the "It is what it is" mentality. I wasn't truly concerned about this virus until today actually. My daughter was brought up to play in the tournament with the Varsity Girls Basketball Team. Her team was due to play in the State Semi-Final game tonight and the game was cancelled last minute. I feel nothing but sadness for the Coaches and the parents, especially the parents of Seniors. I would be devastated if I wasn't able to watch a potential High-School season ending game for one of my kids. Once this game was cancelled this morning I then started receiving even more notices about cancellations relating to the schools and local events. I heard there is even talk about cancelling Spring sports across the board. While this probably seems small to some people this is tragic for our small town where sports positively impacts so many student athletes and keeps our Community rolling. I am praying for everyone's sake that this doesn't happen and this state of panic everyone is possessing passes quickly. I also pray for anyone that has lost their life to this virus and I hope my family, friends and colleagues stay safe and healthy from this mess.
For the love of God what in tarnation are we going to do around here if Softball and Baseball Seasons are cancelled? OH MY...
