This is how you see the world

I spent the day with family by my parents pool this afternoon trying to beat the heat wave we are in. I was doing some work on my phone and feeling my typical Sunday stress thinking about the week ahead and the million things I need to get done. I came across this image I posted here with pretty powerful words that stopped me in my tracks and got me thinking.

We are living in such an unbelievably judgmental world these days. Social media, cell phones and technology alone have magnified this over time because there really is no such thing as privacy anymore. But what if we all just stopped for one day, one week or even better forever and let people live their own lives without placing judgement. Why can't we hang out with people that we want to hang out with regardless of age, religion, sexual preference or social status? Why can't people have their own opinions even if we don't agree with them? Is there some written rule that we are not allowed to do this? Because I have yet to see or read a book about the correct and only way to live a life.

This mindset lifestyle takes time and doesn't always come easy to everyone. I spent years of my life never stepping outside the box, constantly placing judgement on family members, friends and perfect strangers and not getting to know new people just because. I was that negative and frankly mean person that I am not proud of. Over time I realized I didn't want to live like that anymore and certainly don't want my children to live like that. Since I made this change I have met the most amazing people and traveled to places I never thought I would. I have been taught about different foods, drinks, music, cultures and even words I didn't even know existed. I now talk to anyone and anybody that crosses my path no matter where I am. I have young friends, old friends, friends from other countries now. I have had conversations and spent time with the most random people that have put a smile on my face, made me laugh or even challenged me as a person. I am thankful every day for all these new people that have popped into my life and hope there are many more for me to get to know in my future.

I urge everyone reading this to give this a try. This is how you will grow and it will be life changing.
