Top Stressful Jobs in America

I was networking in a suite in Yankee Stadium Monday night with other people in the Events industry. Even for a die hard Boston baseball fan like myself it's a lot of fun to be in a suite in that stadium with endless food and drinks and a great view of the field. I also just love the game of baseball and had fun educating some ladies on what it means to tag up. I certainly have my fair share of fun in this industry but I also remind myself we work long hard hours too. Networking and learning never stops for any of us especially on social media if you want to remain knowledgeable and known! I actually spend at least one hour a night looking for new clients to connect with on Linkedln, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. I guess you could call me a stocker but the only way to learn is to connect with the right people.

One of the woman in the suite I was talking with asked me if I had read an article published on the CBS News website about stressful jobs in America which of course I did. We laughed together about how Event planning is #6 on the list along with people that actually risk their lives for a living. We are constantly dealing with deadlines, budgets and trying to grow our events. We definitely agreed we have had some stress in our positions and like I always tell people you either swim in this industry or sink, and I don't sink. After our little laugh we were swapping cell numbers and sharing information on vendors we like. Because as I said earlier we never stop working!

I really like the quote from Steve Jobs above because clearly most of us blue collar Americans need to work but do you like or love your job? After 5+ years, a large acquisition and several personnel changes I can honestly say I do love my job. No day is ever the same and some days I am texting at midnight or 3am on some project we are working on. I am certainly not forced to do so but I am just too nosey to not be reading what people are telling me. I also work with many clients and team members in different time zones so to get things done you need to adapt. I am also lucky to have a brilliant USA team to work with and when we are all together we work hard but we also have fun. We tell each other way too much information and when I leave our US office my abs are sore from laughter. We also respect each other and our personal lives even though they all think I am a teeny bit crazy.

There are millions of jobs out there and if you are not happy and have the opportunity to make a change go for it. Because after all your work is going to fill a large part of your life.
