Two Friends: Different Stages, Shared Vision

Sara Malo

Launching our sizzle video for LinkUnite IV this morning got me reflecting on our last four events. Each one has been a testament to the incredible growth and impact of this movement. It's inspiring to see how far we've come and the community we've built together. These videos bring me back to our very first conversations we ever had.

Amanda and I embarked on this remarkable journey together, not just as friends, but as co-founders of LinkUnite. Despite being at completely different stages in our personal lives, our shared goals and mutual understanding have forged an unbreakable bond. At the beginning, we were at a point in our lives where I was getting divorced and she was living a nomad life. We didn't know up from down but we knew we had to build something together. Might be strange for others to understand but our brains work side by side, each with unique strengths. We were given a gift, kinda like sisters!

Today, Amanda is on the cusp of a life-changing moment, just two weeks away from welcoming her first child, a baby girl. Motherhood is an incredible adventure, filled with joys and challenges that transform every aspect of life. As she prepares to embrace this new chapter, I can’t help but reflect on my own journey as a Mother.

My daughter, once a baby herself, is now approaching her 18th birthday and entering her senior year of high school. It's a time of significant transition, both for her and for me. As she stands on the brink of adulthood, I find myself reminiscing about the years gone by and the milestones we've celebrated together. I honestly can't imagine her not being in this house every day. The young woman she has turned into is so far ahead of what I imagined when I was about to give birth to her back in 2006.

Despite these different phases of life, Amanda and I have discovered that our friendship and partnership remain unwavering. The essence of our connection lies in our shared values, dreams, and the unwavering support we offer each other. Amanda's impending motherhood and my experience of watching my daughter grow up have only strengthened our bond.

Co-founding LinkUnite was a dream we both nurtured, driven by a passion for empowering women and creating a supportive community. Our unique perspectives have enriched our business, allowing us to approach challenges with empathy and understanding. Amanda's fresh outlook on motherhood brings a new dimension to our work, while my experience offers a seasoned perspective. Keep notes, we are seasoned not old my friends!

As Amanda prepares to welcome her baby girl and I watch my daughter step into adulthood, we are reminded that life is a series of beautiful transitions. These changes don't diminish our connection; instead, they enhance it. Our friendship is a testament to the fact that different stages of life can coexist harmoniously, enriching our journey as business partners and friends.

In the end, the essence of our bond remains unchanged. We continue to inspire and support each other, embracing the evolving nature of our lives while staying true to our shared vision. We have a sense of loyalty where we show up and offer kindness to those who need it the most. We want to be examples for everyone that joins our movement because after all it started with the two of us. As we navigate all these exciting changing times, we look forward to the future with hope and determination, knowing that together, with our daughters and sons we can achieve anything.
