Visiting Fenway Park

I don't care if you are not a Boston Red Sox fan if you have not visited Fenway Park and you are a baseball fan you need to add this to your bucket list ASAP. If you are lucky enough to get tickets when the Yankees are in town the excitement level in Boston is even more electrifying.

My niece and I were lucky enough to take a limo into the city last night for a Sox/Yankees series game. Keep in mind I have been to Fenway Park a million times as I am a die hard fan but I get equally excited every single time I go. It's also refreshing to watch a game with someone that really knows the game like my niece does. We got into the city early enough to get a quick bite at Boston Beer Works. My niece had never been and in my eyes you need to at least stop in there for a beer. The watermelon or blueberry beer on a hot summer day is so refreshing and fun, I highly recommend them. Even though they ran out of watermelon slices which was annoying for someone like me who wants the full beer experience but I let that go eventually! We shared a pitcher of blueberry beer with some Yankee fans that loved sharing with us several times how the Yankees are leading the AL East. As if we didn't already know this.

If you don't know the history of Fenway Park I would say you live under a rock. But in any rate the Park opened in 1912 and is the oldest stadium in Major League Baseball and naturally one of the most famous Parks. There are so many cool historic things to see like the Pesky Pole and the Green Monster. Interesting fact about the Green Monster it wasn't rebuilt until 1934 when a fire the year before destroyed a big part of the Park. In 2003 they turned the Green Monster into more seats for fans which had us super excited. The left field wall is the highest in all of baseball, 37.2 feet of monster green. Besides being the scorekeeper the wall has hundred of signatures from former and current baseball players. I was lucky enough to sit front row center field the year the Monster seats opened. I believe at the time I paid $150 for the ticket but they are certainly not that cheap anymore. It really is worth every penny if you have the opportunity to sit up there simply for the private food, beer and bathroom!

In general I am just a huge baseball fan. I love the game because it's a thinking sport and every play is different than the next. I love sitting near people that have absolutely no idea what is going on and trying to explain things like when to tag up! I can say it's not the same walking in there without Big Papi #34 in the lineup but Mookie Betts put on a show at the plate for us so it was an exciting night.

Hoping for a series sweep. #gosox
