Have you ever heard the song "Praying" by Kesha?! It's pretty mind blowing if you have lived this situation. Every time I hear it I stop dead in my tracks and try to figure out what great thing I plan to do next. That's the power of music and lyrics in someone's life. For me at least, it really makes me inspired and yes, I am proud of who I am.
I was in NYC for the Digital Agency Expo this week #dax2019. Typically I enter sessions and the content bores me and I move on. I have heard the same speeches over and over again, conference after conference. However, I was able to hear Jackie Hermes on the main stage this time. From the beginning she engaged me in what she had to say. She talked about keeping the business going while going through a divorce. Her big thing was transparency and making videos to show case who she is as a person. In my opinion that is bravery because when you go through a divorce you are not at your best. I really loved how she put it out there for all of us to hear. She also talked about women leading and her struggles. I was really drawn to her speech and feel like it has brought me to see things in a different light.
Jackie is the CEO of Accelity, a Milwaukee-based marketing agency that drives growth in B2B software startups. I think women need to hear what she is saying, so that will be part of my mission.
